I will answer to almost anything that sounds close to my first name. If it's for something official I'll spell it carefully. It's unusual enough that they rarely think they know how to spell it in advance. My last name is pretty common, although I've seen messed up before. I figure that if I ever get married it will end up being someone with a very complicated last name so that I'll be in trouble for both halves. In which case, I think I'm keeping my name.
