It's often referred to as "RAID 0", but it offers no redundancy. It also takes 0 math to do any of it, you just split the data in half.

Hardware RAID is a waste of money and can cause massive performance problems. If talked about this at length before... you might want to google against the board for it.

Put simply, if you're running a real OS (uh... that'd be a UNIX), hardware RAID can be a very big problem. Software RAID is king here.

If you're running Windows... well who cares? Nobody does anything that's actually important on Windows... do they?
