Weird BSOD by carthax2005-05-03 12:36:29
And your collaegue suggests "reinstall" ? by scissors 2005-05-03 13:28:23
I did that once, yes on a Dell machine too.
But on that one, the "Dell boot partition" (or install partition?) had already been "nuked" before.
But the Dell "drivers disk" came in handy later on.
But .... since that re-install, the machine went on, with extra directories: suddenly there was C:/WINNT "next to" C:/Windows , and in DocumentsAndSettings I found extra users too:
Administrator , Administrator.000 , Administrator.WINNT (sic) and others too: All Users + All Users.WINNT ... it's confusing, but well, the machine "works" today, doesn't it?
(May get a total re-install this month, this time will be done by "ICT-Operations", not by "occasional" install-reccommendations by, well, developers. I'm starting to think that these "hardware people" from the "lower" floors know what they are doing, and that some of our developers ... try something, to see wether it works. (But devel is more fun for me, I lose my patience when windows tells me "this will continue for X minutes", then re-estimates.)
