I'm used to leaving even the big heavy plug-converters in the socket, even for long periods of time, but my friend yelled at me for leaving his electric piano plugged in with one of those flimsy things. Plus very few plugs I've used in the states have switches. Not to mention they only supply 120V. My Laser death ray won't take less than 200, and it's heavy enough without all the converters.
