Agreed. Logic appears to be a lost art, un-common sense is an endangered species, & thinking will soon be a federal offense.
But I have to admit, the dollar-speak woke a lot of people up at my presentation. The engineering types loved the solution and saw the merits immediately because they had to deal with the problem. I woke up the business types with 2 numbers.
Equipment Investment $12,000
Annual Cost Avoidance $300,000
Had to redo the previous 10 minutes of the presentation so they could see where it came from, but they got it.

Six sigma gets a bad rap a lot, but the whole 'using data' idea put a lot of the people who 'knew better' in their place when the stuff they 'knew' turned out not to be true. (I got schooled myself on a couple things.) |
