Six sigma can't change most of that. It's just a "Structured, data driven process to improve performance." They can't tell you how to do your job better. (They can try but it isn't what it's for and it won't work that way...) It's more of a tool box. They'll teach you different tools to apply to your situation that will help give you data to make a decision.

Quick primer:
DMAIC process
DEFINE the problem/process (Specific issue you're to address, helps prevent projects that snowball).
MEASURE the current status (figure out where you're at)
ANALYZE the data/process and figure out what the heck is up.
IMPROVE the process (This is where 6 sigma is the least help. You know your processes better than anyone, you know how things work, this is where your creative solutions come in.)
CONTROL the process (Keep things from backsliding and getting worse.)

They won't teach you a thing about software. They won't change industry standards, etc. It's about looking at your processes (manufacturing, papertrail, document approval, purchasing, etc.), gathering data on them, and improving the process (saving the company money...) We killed a lot of projects that upper management wanted because the data showed they wouldn't save the money they thought it would.
