I could. They charge a small amout (US$ 1.75 I think) to your card with a four digit code as a remark. This usually happens shortly after the account was opened. You credit card company can probably still find the entry. Use that code to verify. No need for a bank account, or maybe paypal works different in canada than in switzerland.
