The textbook manufacturers have one large bloc and a whole bunch of small individual school boards as customers. Therefore, the large customer gets its way and makes choices for all of America (one printing of the textbook happens, not two versions). The rest of the country uses the same textbooks because all of the textbook publishers follow this same choice, made by the southern bloc.

So, unless you can show me any sort of rejection of those textbooks in the rest of the US, what I said stands.
