I've had more than my fair share of experience with dentists. I have to say that by far the best dentists I've had have been recommended by other dentists. When I moved to Los Angeles from the Northern California area (where I had a great dentist), I stumbled through a few local dentists to whom I was referred by either my insurance or my friends and had horrible experiences. I went back to my dentist in Northern California and told him of my plight, and he referred me to a great dentist he knew in the LA area. This was around 6 years ago. I've been seeing this dentist ever since and I LOVE him. He does amazing work. So I highly recommend calling up your old family dentist and asking for referrals to dentists in your area. They may not be able to help if they don't know anybody, but you never know. My dentists knew each other from a random encounter when taking the dental board exams. Had I not asked, I never would've known.
