All the symptoms you mentioned are symptoms of the common cold. Here's a clicky that discusses it. It does indicate visiting a doctor if you produce yellow-green or darkened phlegm (if that's what KS did, you should probably go to your own doc tomorrow). Sounds like today's doc was a bit of an ass, but if KS's lungs are clear (and if you didn't mention the yellow phlegm) and if he then feels it's a virus, well, there's not much to do. For the cough, see a competent pharmacist for a cough remedy that deals with the cough with as little other interference as possible.
