As for altering your nation's government, once you complete the initial profile you can't directly change the nature of your government. The game tracks your choices on the issues and labels your government accordingly. Membership in the UN will impact the label in that all resolutions passed by the UN (while you are a member) are implemented in your nation. UN members rarely manage to attain Corrupt Dictatorship status. ;) As for vampires, etc., did you wander into some of the RP areas? There are several nations that run regular vampire worlds and some that run elven/LOTR-style RPs. Most of which occurs in International Incidents over at the NS forum.
