though I think that most teachers I know - outside of perhaps a few "tougher" ones I've met - would run screaming from the idea, as Toxin suggests.
While I agree with you that in many cases, a trained person with a gun is nothing to worry about and many people are overly prejudiced against it, you don't seem to give much care to the idea that many people simply shouldn't have guns, and many are impacted negatively in a real way by their presence.
Someone who wouldn't be comfortable with a gun should not be expected to carry one, even if trained, and someone who wouldn't be comfortable with one around can't be expected to work in an environment where they become standard. |
