school.
Personally, looking at the utter bull most teachers have to put up with, with the restriction they have on how they can put up with it, it is a miracle that we are not suffering a severe teacher shortage.
First off, parents who scream at teachers for acusing little Johnny of any form of misbehaviour, false accusations of assault and sexual assault (3 weeks in, assault accusation for Helen, EVERY male teacher I know up here sexual assault within the first year).
Then the over-crowding because Daddy&Mommy would rather not pay taxes for education of Johnny, cutting equipment / staff / maintenance and frills like art.
Then the pay scale for most teachers is below that of almost any other "Professional". (this is more a US than Canadian problem from my knowledge)
Then the conflict of faith vs. education (evolution!).
Then the mandatory dumbing down of curriculum to avoid the controversial resulting from issues above (evolution!).
Helen says that 97% of her work is behaviour control activity. Teaching is simply not an option in that environment. Especially a problem when the home learning environment is parental aggressive apathy. |
