But why wait until they are 18? If the advantages are checking the obesity rate and abolishing inequalities, then the younger the better. How about compulsory boarding school, which then can include paramilitary training? Costly - maybe. Somewhat more so than the current school system. But it would really help fix the problems caused by allowing anybody with functional reproductive equipment to bring up children - no matter how unfit they may be. It would go a long way towards making the USA truly a land of equals.
