We seem to agree on the first part. Though I'd say that availability of guns is related to crimes commited with guns, I am not saying that guns are the cause for violence.
Regarding the other point:
It's a matter of context. Having a practical application for a hobby is something good, in general. However there's a notable admiration of anything gun-related in certain posts that makes me believe that a serious debate about the non-hobby part is not really possible. The very same poster have, however, the tendency to convert such serious debates intogun handling lessons.
I, for one, find that annoying at times. As annoying as bragging about the uber sniper skills of Lee Harvey Oswald or the death denying courage of suicide bombers.
Perhaps im thin-skinned on this one, but at the very least, it distracts from more serious points. |
