something like this are freelancers. And they get paid via a clearing house portal (such as www.elance.com ).

It would probably be easiest if you have a company that the US company can pay, rather than by paying you directly as a "person".

Many contract positions with the larger US firms use "Contract houses" such as Volt. I think Volt is international, and may be able to hook you up with such a job (but they take a cut out of your pay). But such contract houses are often the only way in to certain companies.
