in Nunavut:
GET REAL!!!
Before that starts, you would have to institute serious reformation of attitudes among students. It would have to start with respect for the teacher.
Second:
COPS carry guns. Teachers teach. Giving teachers guns would only work if:
1) Manadatory military service were required, so that the military style response systems were ingrained in the teachers
2) Mandatory regular training of teachers, with practice sessions were required
3) Funding were given for the training, for the guns, for the ammo and for the teacher's overtime spent away from their primary job - teaching
4) A major tax increase was done to give the teachers adequate pay (Note that the US has the worst pay-scales for teachers among developed countries), and then pay for them extra to become cop-teachers
5) A program of replacing teachers would be needed because at least 50% of them would quit if they were required to work in conditions of armed camps (note that neither Canada, any European country, nor the US are surrounded by people dedicated to their extermination).
As well, dedicated terrorists will kill masses of people regardless of the armaments of a few. Or did 9/11 teach you nothing... wait, you want the pilots to be armed so that they can get into gun battles instead of actually flying the plane...
Breslan would have happened, bullets were used and so were bombs, regardless of the presence of a few armed teachers. It was a military-style take-over operation. The attackers were heavily armed. They were very prepared to die killing as many as possible. Would they have had any scruples about killing the kids in a gun-battle, as opposed to as hostages... of course not. Breslan is an excellent of example of how extra guns would have done NOTHING in the face of the actions of terrorists.
Your demand for all persons to be armed at all possible times is simply the drug-fantasies of the gun-powder addict. |
