However the mainstream arguments against arming teachers has nothing to do with funding and everything to do with. "eeek a nasty gun" This cartoon illustrates exactly what I encounter to the idea of arming teachers.

Funding may be available through Homeland Security grants, but since we aren't even allowed to go for those grants here to enhance computer systems security I know little about them. I would also be willing to bet that if the teachers were unable to afford the training due to funding that a way could be found to make it free or VERY low cost. I know I'd volunteer to help organize a fundraising initiative.

As for corporal punishment; you got my vote on that one. A lot of these problems stem from a lack of respect for authority and rules of society.
