humm well I just read your diary and to be honest you sound like one of a hundred people working at a local help desk near you. Don't worry too much about the whole school thing. If you can hold your own on the desk you should do fine in the computer industry. I would seriously recommend doing help desk work for a while in any case to anyone who wishes to work in the computer industry as a tech. It sharpens your troubleshooting skills wonderfully. Before going into the trades I worked for Compaq, and Rogers@home on the help desk. I am probibly going to be going to work for IBM here pretty soon. Crossing my fingers, I shoud find out this week. Good luck to ya! Hope that is of some help. Worst comes to worst you can do what I did and head for the trades for a bit. Good work, and good money if you are willing to get your hands dirty. I am just a born and bred geek so it just didn't suit me.
