it means you gave your government an interest free loan throughout the year by overpaying on your taxes. I know nothing about Canadian taxes, but if they're like US taxes where payroll deductions are based on withholding information you give your employer, you may want to go to your HR department and decrease your withholdings so you can keep more of your money during the year (and if you don't spend it, you get to earn interest on it). Or maybe you just want to go see a tax planner in your area who's familiar with Canadian tax law to get the most informed plan you can. ;)
