I was hoping that I might have misunderstood.

Some folks do live in fear all the time, sometimes for reasons sometimes not. I don't know any of those folks.

What I have noticed is that most people in general are quite clueless as to what is going on around them. For some of these folks, ignorance is bliss. For others it can induce fear; unfortunately they usually don't do anything so reduce the fear levels.
