That kind of sentiment is rampant. Imagine taking that approach to law? "Well, I don't have a law degree and I've never read a book, but how hard can the job be?" Or medicine? "I've never practiced medicine before, and to be quite frank, I find the human body quite repulsive. My salary expectations are, however, quite low." ;) The "Have you ever played a video game?" question is an early one in interviews.
