As you mentioned, "The point is you have to know what you are doing." When it comes to hand-to-hand range combat, in other words when physical contact between the two is possible, it takes much more skill than point and click; block, grapple, redirect, dodge, and others can all be added to the mix, so more skill is required to make a well-placed shot. However, all the marksmanship skill in the world won't do you any good if your attacker outweighs you greatly and has you pinned such that you cannot aim the weapon at him or her. Please note, I did say, "After getting tangled it is more about size, skill, and sometimes luck," not, "ALL about size, skill, and luck." Basically, getting "tangled" changes the ratios of skill likely to be necessary to defend one's self, but doesn't necessarily negate the possibility of effective use of marksmanship.
Your title looked like a rebuttal, but I don't see where we really disagree. Maybe I need to look closer, but I don't see it.
