Wikipedia Question by carthax2005-03-16 15:06:23
  Absolutely not. by wheresthefish2005-03-16 15:20:51
Oh please by Liava 2005-03-16 15:56:54
Go to the effort to publish a dead tree version? That means nothing. I could just as easily argue the opposite point. Watch.

----
Why would I trust a person who willingly must go through great effort to publish something? Obviously, it just means that the person is motivated to do so, and the obvious question is: What is the motive?

There are three obvious ones: money, a vested interest, or desire to be heard. Simply wanting money has no bearing on reliability. A vested interest implies that the information is biased. If it's just a desire to be heard, then why not just write it on Wikipedia.

People who write for Wikipedia, OTOH, most likely just want to be heard. Sure, they could also have a vested interest, but that's why there is a process for improving it, and it is a continuous cycle of review. It may not be as rigorous as a scientific journal, but it is still reviewed, which is more than can be said of an arbitrary published work.
----

Of course, I wouldn't quote from it, either, but your arguments don't hold water.
