old technology example to use as our basis for reference instead of the more recent, newer techniques and technolody, more urban / insurgency / counter insurgency ops? hmm.. sounds counter-intuitive to me. Seems the more recent, more urban ops would be more applicable to the "serious" sniper. With as much preparation as you talk about putting into it, unless it was suicide by cop, I could conceive of the 'sniper' getting away.
You heard correctly. When police response times are 5-10 minutes, and the average citizen is not armed and if armed may or may not be combat trained, the odds of a prepared sniper getting caught in the act on only a very few shots seem to be coincidental and involve bad luck or timing. and that IS scary. Fortunately, those kinda psychos are a much cmaller percentage of the population.
Oh yeah, and comparing Canada to New York City doesn't really work. NYC has a much greater population density, much more competiton for resources, and on the whole a lower Social Economic component, at least in the areas where a majority of those gun deaths occur. |
