I'm unhappy with my laptop and therefore want to replace it, either that or get a decent desktop. An appropriate G5 would be about $3100 CAD plus RAM, taxes, shipping... not going to happen. Whereas - I can put together a dualie AMD64 workstation for half that. Probably going to end up with a Socket 9xx uni-processor AMD64 ultra-quiet system, 2GB RAM, 40GB HDD, Matrox G450 or G550 DH.
