the transition period from the fall of Rome to the rise of the early medieval period is pretty interesting, and Medieval Europe is too. It will depend on the prof, but the subject matter itself has potential. My background is in science and engineering and I'm currently taking a history of science course just for interest's sake. It's quite enlightening.
