I can't speak from personal experience, but one (semi-?)common occurrence in the Canadian prairie provinces is the chinook.
One day, it's -40C-ish before the wind chill, snowing sideways, and still managing to accumulate quite a bit of snow on the ground.
The next day, it's +20C-ish and sunny. (I'm not certain on the actual temperature ranges, but it's a pretty big jump.)
(Heck, even where I'm living in the Ottawa Valley I've seen 24-hour temperature ranges of ~30-35C during the winter... -20 one day, +10 the next. Fortunately, not often.) |
