New boxen help by voxwoman 2005-03-16 11:16:14
I'm about to let my (11 year old) kid break her piggy bank open and get herself a new PC (because I need to reclaim mine - it's the only one in the house that will run the Sims2 and Chessmaster). Her current PC is my old one (AMD 200Mhz processor, I think... and 64 Meg memory, 8x CD.. bascially obsolete).

She's got about 600 dollars, and I don't have any "spare cash" to help pad out the budget. Can we do this? And should I put together a Frankenbox? (I can install disks and CD drives, and peripherals, but I'm leery of doing motherboards myself).

Advice appreciated.
