Is 64bit worth it? by Carciofus2005-03-16 07:48:33

This is AMD's upcoming low-power AMD64 chip. The full AMD64s are not exactly low-power at the moment, but better than the Intel P4.

I've tried the Ubuntu "hoary" LiveCD (Debian for AMD64) on my system, and it does what it says on the tin, but nothing spectacular - I need an internet connection at home to go further. My AMD64 currently has WinXP 32-bit as its primary OS, for games and sequencer purposes (I use Tracktion).
64-bit Windows XP is on the way, but driver support may lag a little if you have strange hardware...
