Have the connections ON the outlet the powerstrip was plugged into checked, it could be a loose connection on there. Or a broken neutral (if it's a split wired circuit) although usually that just causes things to vary in brightness from dim to "solar equivalent", rather than go out. ANYTHING with electrical weirdness makes me nervous, I've seen the results too many times.
