wow.
I was totally not expecting that.
You kept emphasizing that they were "church" people but I thought that was to establish a "minimum" (positive) standard of behaviour that they're not living up to. The mere idea (let alone reality) that they are hiding behind their church (and I know that's not what you said but that's the way I see it) ....
shocked. absolutely floored. I wish I could fix it (because I'm that type of person) but I can't ... however, I can rant along with, right? :)
You could tell them you will contribute what they contributed to your present, since that is all you can afford at this juncture and that is apparently the role they see you in. If they chose to change that now, they can. In the meantime, contribute 1/15th of an SMS message (which may or may not have cost anyone anything).
By the way, 1/15th of "Happy Birthday from everyone" is approximately "Ha"
I am so shocked and disappointed - terribly disappointed in these hate-propegating church-goers - that they would put you in such a situation. |
