Weird electrical problem: by Blindman2005-03-16 07:42:27
Why are the sockets and lights on the same circuit by wheresthefish2005-03-16 07:46:28
nope. that's fine. not good, but ok. by unjust 2005-03-16 08:05:04
in ~general you'll put the same room(s) on one circuit as it's easer/faster/cheaper to wire.

in an ideal world, you'll have this:

-one circuit for the primary switched light source in each zone of rooms (i.e. hall, bedrooms)
-one curcuit for the rest for the plugs in that area, so that if the lighting dies, you can turn on a lamp
-3+ 15A+ circuits in the kitchen -fridge -micro -range (if electric) -lights& toaster/blender plugs
-2 circuits per bath, -lights (and plugs 3~5' or more from sink/tub/shower) -GFI plugs

keep in mind almost no houses have that, and most new homes cheat a bit for cost, and the fact that putting a GFI on a bathroom lights circuit is fine since the GFI will blow w/o takign out the rest of the stuff.
