Weird electrical problem: by Blindman2005-03-16 07:42:27
yup, but you probably want to check a few things by unjust 2005-03-16 07:52:36
just guessing here, but having encountered and troubleshot similar issues:

powerstrip shorted/partially shorted to ground, however for some reason your breaker didn't blow.

if the house is wired a lil wonky, the powerstrip may have been supporting the entire circuit instead of jus the things plugged into it. turning it off reset it/bypassed it so the circuit went live again.

i'd look at the plug that the strip was in, the breaker, the power going into the breaker, and the power at several points on teh circut.

incidentally, a micro/fridge should be on their own circuit, but in houses built premicrowaves, they didn't include several spare 15A circuits into kitchens.
