There are a number of small towns about, and local stations. The Glasgow Central trains tend to stop at loads of small stations, slowing this line down.

This particular train was going long-distance, but even so it wouldn't have opened up until it got to the other side of Edinburgh - the main East-coast line runs at full-speed.
