nor miles for theat matter. I have read about people "saving" miles, more specifically "air miles", which looks really weird to do.
Saving (or buying) fine cloth by length is quite common, but air should be measured in cubic meters (liter maybe), not in km or mi.

But then, it's the airplane companies who sell it by the mile, and they don't really "sell" it either so I guess it's legal even here "on the old continent"

(Which is a silly way to name europe, isn't it? Europe isn't even a whole "continent" in the meaning of "closed off by surrounding oceans". They added "or mountains" to it, so Europe can "end" at Kaukasus or Oural mountains.
And is europe really "older" than other continents?
