A little modem help please? (remember me?) by dire_lobo 2005-03-16 07:28:10
Hello y'all, hope veryone is doing well. OK, I've been without a connection at home for a while, went to get a dial-up ISP... tried a couple ... when I try to connect, I get a "no modem found" or "unable to dial" message.

I ran the XP diagnostics, which says the modem is fine. As does the diagnostic package that came with the modem (internal - PC is a Dell Dimension - sorry, I don't remember the exact modem model)

Still no luck.

tried unistalling the modem drivers and reinstalling.

tried uncoupling the line-in from the UPS and ran it directly to the PC (the phone attached works either way).

Still no luck.

No, I've never had AOL.

Any brilliant suggestions?

If I can get online from home, I won't be such a stranger around here (well, any stranger than I've been in the past)... it appears I won't be accessing UF from wrok anymore except for "few and far between" moments... and I miss y'all! I'll try to check back later today - any and all help will be MOST GREATLY APPRECIATED
