Geek Question #2 (Linux-SUSE ) by hieraco 2005-03-16 01:39:35
I just recieved my SUSE 9.2 DVD and I see that it supports 64bit AMD processors. Both my desk top and Laptop computers have the AMD 64 CPU in them so I am thinking that this would be an excellent oppertunity to install linux on one or the other to try it out and get a feel for it.

The thing is that I can not afford to loose data on either machine. Both are currently running XP Pro. The Question(s)is/are.
1) Can I install SUSE on an XP hard drive (not the C: drive) without converting a partition to Linux file systems?
2) What is the risk of loosing access to my XP disk due to boot loader corruption (something that I experienced with Mandrake a few years back).
3) What experience does people have with SUSE?

You can respond to this TLP or e-mail details to me c/o my address in my Diary - Subject line = SUSE Answers

Thanks
