Get the Manager's name. That way you can be damn sure that you are getting the correct info. My own personal general rule is I usually give the underlings one chance (two if I am in a good mood) and then after that I ask to deal directly with whoever is in charge. Funny thing is you tend to get the right information and your problems seem to get dealt with much faster. Go figure.
If the matter is still not cleared up tomorrow, call guy owing you money, tell him you want the $95 in cash and will give him a receipt. If he refuses, call the local PD and ask for advice, not sure if you are in Canada or the US, but in Canada you can call the Industry and Labor Relations board (Their # is in the government blue pages) and can file a grievance with them. Had that happen to me before and had to go that route. Had my money in 2 Business Days.
The US should have some sort of counterpart that is similar. Check the phone book and make a couple calls, you should be able to track down who to talk to.
