You seriously can't see the difference? First of off, the Fox news artical states in the opening lines,
"addicts will soon be able to get their fix from the Canadian government"
Hummm that sounds not good. Next, they go on to call addicts "Junkies" then go out on the street to interview the "Junkies". I would have thought they would interview the man who was running the program.. but apparently the American public would rather hear from "...heroin addict Olivia Edgars." as an informed source. Of course she says that it is the government's way of KILLING them.
Dude.. I don't know about bull**** filters.. but beyond the fact that there is a program in the works, a very few numbers, the name of the director and that Vancover's police chief is a supporter, there is no information in the fox artical at all. In fact you are left with the impression that this is a permenent government program.
Simply Fox is spinning this to make it look like soemthing it is not. There is no mention that it is a study done by UBC, no mention that it is a limited study restricted to 6 people per week for 6 months and subject to strict guide lines. The Fox artical in fact stated "In the program all addicts have to do to get their fix is show up three times a day seven days a week." Again.. a statment of fact that just isn't true. They also don't mention the Swiss experiment of the same kind that found that while only 10% of addicts kicked the habit, crime rates, when down and the number of addicts holding full time employment rose dramaticly.
THAT is what I mean by fear mongering. |
