I wish it had been so simple. But you never know, it could still be true. Machines where all under warrenty, and I instructed users that they should back up their data, nuke and reinstall, see what happens (couldn't think of anything else). If it still doesn't after that, called up the PC vender and start the return process for a bad nic.
