backed up against a wall with nowhere to go due to backing up to try to get enough personal space with the other person not seeming to understand that I needed personal space. so the joke you frequently tell isn't a joke for me, but a reality. And I'm American (as was the other person involved that I can think of offhand). I have no clue where the cultural variances in this regard in American culture come from...
