About that ugly beast named C++ by BrainBug2005-03-15 11:02:58
The Design and Evolution of C++ by williamashbless 2005-03-15 11:06:38
By Bjarne Stroustrup (who invented the language, largely).

Without question there are language eccentricities. But every language has 'em. Someone going from C++ to, say, Java or PHP or... whatever, are going to have the same issues you do -- just on different 'screw ups'. :D

But... having said that, yeah, C++ has probably more than its fair share.

Learn to live with it, embrace it, or you'll just end up pulling your hair out and screaming and generally being unproductive. (having been, as you say, finally unable to dodge it).
