Had one of my rats in the vet on Friday to have a lump checked. The vet said it was proably a tumor (no great surprise), and operated on her yesterday.
Turns out it's been quite an aggressive lump, and very invasive. It's most probably been a malignant tumor.
Now here's the problem. He's got rid of all the macroscopic tissue, and cut a buffer around it as best he could, but he can't be certain he's got all the microscopic tissue - it may come back very quickly. The thing is, with her being so small, there's really nothing else he can cut away. If he's not got it all, she's done for.
Anyway, I'm quite sad today because I don't know if I'll have wee Raisin around the house for a few weeks or a few years, and I'm really worried about her.
I guess with everything that's going on in the world, my rat is pretty insignificant in the grand scheme, but she's important to me, and I just wanted to get that off my chest. |
