I try to assuage it by clarifying as much as possible, when the topic comes up, just what it is that I do believe, and why.
But I do deeply wish there could be more unity in a Church theoretically based on the love of all people. "Love the Lord thy God, and love thy neighbor as thyself," that sort of thing.
It's led me to have a much dimmer view of organized religion than I used to, honestly. I feel comfortable at a wide variety of Christian services, but feel much less comfortable in the least calling myself a Catholic, a Presbyterian, a Methodist, what have you. Which is why I don't. |
