Encrypted source code, what do you think? by asayogure2006-11-19 12:55:59

Don't waste the money on something that just obfuscates, or for that matter when you can find it free and open source. Look into Turck MMCache (http://sourceforge.net/projects/turck-mmcache/ no clicky I'm feeling lazy), it does the same thing as the encoder from Zend. All you're doing is removing a step from the process. Instead of compiling the php source to byte-code and executing it when a client requests the web page you are just using the pre-compiled code and the source isn't necessary.

If you're serious about your IP being handed out without your permission it's time to talk to these clients and tell them they are violating your licensing agreements. Basically it's a case of they think they can get away with it so they will. You'll have to approach the issue with them properly if you want to get any future business from them - if you don't care about that aspect then let them know in no uncertain terms what they are doing is violating the contract and you're willing to nail 'em for it.
