was introduced around DOS 6 IIRC - certainly it was there in 6.22, and not in the version of 5.0 that I had. Laplink is better for a one-off transfer, you only need run it one one of the machines and it'll give you instructions on how to use 'mode' on the other machine to pass control to the first for a remote install. I've used it under dos 7.x, though the most recent versions of windos seem to break it.
