I mean back as far as the 60s the speed limits on the interstates (where they had them) were 75-80 miles an hour back when cars were made of all steel weighed 5000 pounds had drum brakes all the way around and non steel belted radial tires. and no anti lock brakes either nor were there seat belts. YOu know what the material the dashboards are made out of back in the 50's and 60s it was sheet metal. now they are padded and have airbags the only reason there is a speed limit is Fuel ecconomy. Modern cars are sooo capable of going 90 plus on the highway that its rediculous to have people going at 55 or 60.
