this helps.

Though I feel that no matter how long you analyze the situation, you still can't forsee what is going to happen, and ultimately will rejection happen or not.

In my case I want to get something. I may get it partially. I'm more afraid of not getting it at all, or it being taken away. This fear does not serve any purpose that I'd call useful ... Well, this fear tries to protect me from the situation. Thus, in a way it says Don't enter this situation. I can play it safe, and not enter it, but then I will lose something I wanted. I think I may need to weigh how bad I want it vs getting booted off.

Well, I want it. But I also want to stop stressing about it while anticipating it. Thus maybe say that I won't do it, and do it at the last moment, without letting myself think too much.
