That's often what it is. Like any other slice of the demographic pie, geeks are capable of being lazy. Heck, I've noticed some geeks are so lazy that they let minor things like personal hygiene and living-space tidyness go out the window.

So Joe Geek has a $1000 balance on his Visa costing him 18.6% interest p.a. He could go and get a line of credit at 5% and pay off his Visa balance, but that would take time and effort, both of which are (in his or her estimation) better spent on coding or online gaming.
